The Truth about Medium by Gary E. R. Schwartz |
Ok, I admit the reason this book is on my list is pure vanity: I’m in it. Schwartz devotes 3 pages(rather inaccurately) to my brief interaction with the Professional Media Skeptic, “The Amazing Randi” and recounts the story where Randi promises to push a peanut through Times Square sans clothing, if I can prove I’m telling the truth about Stanley Krippner. I didn’t care enough to see Randi naked, but countless others proved me correct. I should start a Randi clock, I know….but then that would give him even more attention, that he certainly doesn’t need. Please don’t buy the book if you just want to read about me — the book is awful, and a yawn at that. Just search at Amazon and read it there. |

Dean Radin’s book The Conscious Universe has several chapters including one called A Field Guide to Skepticism which effectively debunks all skeptical arguments made about valid and genuine, scientifically proven psi and psychic phenomena.This is a very well written, easy to read, yet academic book that teaches readers about statistics, probabilities and the experiments that have taken place up to publication date. Its been translated into several languages and is a perennial bestseller. |

The Book of Divination By Ann Fiery |
I purchased this book in the “bargain bin” at my local Barnes & Noble, thinking it would be a light treatment and a “coffee table” book. I was pleasantly surprised at amount of insightful history on each subject, and the light-handed way Ms. Fiery approached these subjects: not too serious, with a touch of humor, but always reverent. For the tarot enthusiast, the real secret treasure of this book, lies not in the wealth of information you can gain about the history other divination methods, but how Ms. Fiery wraps it up in the final chapter on Tarot, and shows how some of the other divination methods and symbols are infused in the classic tarot. If you can find this book in the bargain bin, it’s truly a delight. |
